IQ magazine UK has voted Bakehouse Studios in the top rehearsal facilities worldwide for the second year running; the only Australian studio to be included in the Production 100. One hundred touring music industry professionals select the list, and we are thrilled to be included alongside some of the world’s best studios.
Described by Elvis Costello as "one of the best practice studios in the world", Bakehouse holds a special place in the hearts of Melbourne and International touring bands alike. With rooms of all sizes, from the $40 "Metal" roomfor bands on a budget, through to the world famous Scrap Museum (a favourite 'lock-out' location for John Cale, Missy Higgins and Judas Priest to name a few). Bakehouse caters for everyone from experimental soloists to the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
All rooms are now fitted with brand new Allen & Heath or Soundcraft mixing desks and Quest power amps. Our small and medium rooms have been refurbished, painted and recarpeted as part of a major studio upgrade in collaboration with local visual artists in 2014.
Bakehouse studios has partnered up with Aguilar Bass Amplifiers and Yamaha to offer you brand new high end, inexpensive backline options. See hire gear for more information.
We have generous communal space including a large open sunny courtyard with leafy green garden. Full kitchen facilities, with a selection of herbal teas, fresh coffee and espresso machine, biscuits/snacks, microwave, large fridge etc.
